First Complete Project in Centileo, Leaving gift for friend

Hi
This is the first project I've done using Centileo from start to finish. I give leaving staff members a gift to reflect their interests and a reminder of friends for work. I've done dozens over the years but always used Cinema's physical renderer, but its always a faff in that it takes time to do test renders etc. At leas with Centileo I just leave the IPR running and the results are there to see in realtime. For this version I remodelled all the objects with materials to match. Personally I just make the materials using the material editor, which for me is ok. I'd like to learn how to use the node editor for this, but to be honest it's a bit beyond me at the moment.

C4d 24, The Centileo c4d 23 Plugin works in C4d 24

Hello all,
I've just downloaded and have tried out C4d 24 and was surprised to find the r23 version plugin works on the new version. I've run it on a few scenes and it all seems to be running properly. I assume there will be some obvious changes under the hood in Cinema, but until a dedicated C4d 24 version of Centileo is available, this seems to work.

Centileo 0.612 Seems very unstable, Crashes often when opening IPR

Hi,
Just been using the new update and the texture tag issues seem fixed but it's become very unstable and has been crashing whenever I opened the IPR window. Put the old 0.602 version back on and its rock solid again. I've attached the Bug Report if it helps. Not sure what's broken, I was really surprised when it kept happening as it's been really stable - still these things do happen:)

Stacked Texture Tag Problems, Any stacked textures in C4d don't render correctly - nothing appears

Hi
I've been trying out the latest update - 0.611 and the stacked texture tags don't seem to be working. I've run the same project in 0.602 and all is fine. Possibly a bug? Also any polygon selections for textures seem to be being ignored. I've attached a couple of images each with different versions of Centileo to show the differences.

No Mesh Seems to Render?, Visibility issues with new update to 0.610

Hiya
I rendered a few tests last night with the previous version and everything rendered perfectly. I've just installed the updated version and almost all the mesh is missing from the scene. I'm sure it's something simple, I'd just like to get my mesh to render again :(

Rock Solid and Stable, Working all day with no crashes - wow :)

Hello all
This is just a quick image of my workflow using Centileo with Cinema 4d. I do my modelling as usual but leave the IPR open and just model away as normal and instead of running a quick render in Cinema, the work is continually updated in the IPR. Nothing new in that - Corona, Thea 2 and all the others do it. The difference with Centileo however is that is really fast and it's also rock solid stable. In my experience I've found I can use it all day with no renderer crashes - it great as it's normally so easy to lose work due to random crashes as you think everything is fine, until, boom, you've lost your work.

How to access plugin once loaded?

Hi ds,
I think you'll need 23.110. You just need to update Cinema 4d to this version for it to work fine. I've been using it for a few weeks now and its really very good and it's also very fast.

Non Rendering Displacement, Displacement mapping not rendering in C4d Picture Viewer on all objects

Hi Again,
I'll send the scene over with a render following work this evening

Non Rendering Displacement, Displacement mapping not rendering in C4d Picture Viewer on all objects

Hi Kirill
I've been trying to get the displacement mapping to work consistently. In the Centileo Interactive Renderer all works fine - even for quite large renders of 3000 x 2000 px. If I try to render the same in the C4d picture viewer I only get displacement one object but not the other. I have a scene with 2 objects both with a different material, both with displacement mapping, but only one renders correctly! Am I missing something? I can render them out in the IPR which is fine but sometimes it hangs C4d when I try to save them out in the Picture viewer - any ideas?

Decals/Labels, Adding images without repeating

What I should have said is, it took me over a year to convince him to move onto the Physical Renderer after years of the standard renderer.
Decals/Labels, Adding images without repeating

Hi Kirill
Most of the time I work through as many iterations of a pic as possible then select the one to do a full render of. These are just quick tests only :) Any other renderer would drive me round the bend in waiting to finish so as soon as an image looks 'Ok', I stop it and move on. I've recommended Centileo to my friend who's rung me to say it works. He has an old machine and all the others he's tried won't work. I think he'll be impressed. He mainly uses his to do animations and it took me over a year to move onto the Physical Renderer. This is good, but quite old now and very noisy so no chance of short render times ! I'll let you know how he gets on.

Decals/Labels, Adding images without repeating

Hi Kirill,
I've been doing a few more tests on adding labels to my models. A much easier way than using the Layer shader - at least for my uses - is to make a selection and add the Label material that way and using an alpha mask for any cutouts or curved corners etc. It's obviously not as flexible doing it this way, but it is more visual. The down side is, the selection has to be pretty much the same size and shape of the label otherwise it repeats to fill the unused space in the selection. Would it be possible to add an option - as in the C4d Texture Tag - to turn repeating the texture off? I took your advice and am now making use of the built in denoiser in C4d 23 which is indeed very fast and gives clean results. Again I've attached some images, all basically lit by HDR images. Does Centileo generate caustics yet or is this a thing in the future?
As usual, have a good weekend and stay safe :)

Animation Test, An animation an old scene with new renderer

Hi Kirill
It's been such a pleasure doing some stills I wondered how Centileo would fare with a simple animation. I rendered the earlier garage scene as a 350 frame animation and it came out pretty well. There are a few flickers, but these are just due to my overly shiny materials. The render was 4.75 hours which I thought was really pretty good.

The Other files of the motion blurred car wheel seems to show a possible bug. The more rotation that is added, the wheel appears to shrink as it increases speed and goes back to it's normal size as it slows down again. No idea why it's doing this?

More complex scene renders, Still trying it out

Hi
After the tests done with the spherical environment car renders, I've done some further renders of the original - re-textured largely with Centileo materials. Instead of an environment to provide the background, I've use the original Garage scene mesh. I have used a HDR image to light the scene which again works really well compare to other renderers with an additional emissive material light in the garage I was expecting the render times to be quite long, but to my surprise the attached images rendered in 1 minute - amazing. Done originally using C4d's Physical Renderer, it took much, much longer. What I would like to know is how to use the various addition shaders Centileo offers as there are no explanations I can find on the site. Also is there any kind of Volumetric Environment/Atmosphere available?
Regards to all

Sunbeam Tiger, Quick render using an old model with new renderer

Hi This are quick renders of a Sunbeam Tiger sports car from the 1960's. The scene is a simple spherical HDR image with a ground plane with a shadow catcher material which Kirill kindly explained how to setup. The most incredible thing is that it's so fast to render and with great results, with low settings. The images with the single car took 10 second while the multiple vehicle images took 11 seconds on my i7 4790 with 16Gb ram and GTX 1060 6Gb ram. It's set to render with 3 to 4 Iterations with 4 Ray bounces. Even with a little depth of field the rendfertimes are almost the same. What I'd like to do next is learn how to add 'Decals' to Centileo materials to give a true race car advertising look!

Textures Fade Away, Disappearing bitmap textures

Hi Kirill
Thanks for the very speed reply. I've attached 3 screenshots. The issue where the bitmaps fade away appears only yo happen when using a HRDI image as a spherical environment map. If I refresh the cache, the texture reappears but the others disappear and visa versa for each bitmap. Currently there are only only 2 small bitmaps for the headlight and indicators.
The Hdr image is 14796 x 7398 at 320Mb. I didn't realise it so large an image! The problem is fixed by using a much smaller Hdr image as per image 3. All the textures remain unaffected. I must say Centileo is a really superb renderer. It's quality seems quite like Nvidia Iray 2.1 in it's speed but much easier to make materials for. I don't think anyone ever got there heads round Iray as the texture creation was so hard to understand. When Centileo is complete how much is it likely to cost? Finally could you direct me to some tutorials for Shadow Mapping and an up to date manual for the cinema version. This to me seems to be the one thing missing - tutorials.
Many thanks and a happy new year

Textures Fade Away, Disappearing bitmap textures

I've just resurrected an old model and have been updating my bitmap textures to find that as the IPR renders, the bitmaps disappear - they just render away to grey on my scene model. If its just a shader with no bitmap image included, they are just fine and render normally. It's only when I use an image in a material! What am I doing wrong or is it a bug?
