Haha, yes. IRay is alive if you can find it by itself. I believe it stopped at version 2.6. Thanks for the info, I'll dig a little further into the tone mapping settings. I may also not be giving enough iterations. IRay looks great but is slow and clunky, at least on my machine.

Forgive me, I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing the render algorithm but I have compared this engine with Fstorm and Iray and it seems like I'm getting a bit more realism out of them. Is it just that I maybe need to crank the sampling up to get a better definition of shadows and depth?
Proxy Creation

I had thought so for Forest Pack but I keep getting the usual error. After closing/opening Max it now works :\ Ill also try to get a TyFlow scene over. TY.

That is great! :D I do see it scattering the proxies now but would you have an idea why I cant render TyFlow? I was trying the proxies to see if that was the issue. Particle interface option is active. Ive seen info in the forum that it has worked in the past but unfortunately whatever I try it wont. Unfortunately the TriMesh option is too heavy for vegetation scattering.

I also believe we have discussed in the recent past not rendering Forest Pack. Do you know of an option I can try to render any type of scatter that Centileo is compatible with? Thank you for your time.

Proxy Creation

Im trying to create a proxy to scatter with TyFlow. The reason is that I have some problems with TyFlow working after changing render engines and I want to try to scatter proxies instead if possible.. My issue today is when right click on object to export as proxy, the object disappears from the viewport. It is also not replaced by a proxy mesh, and it does not export to a designated folder.

Resource Collector

I routinely run resource collector to gather new bitmaps into one folder. The problem is that it renames the current ones and increments them. It would be nice for an option to just overwrite the original image name so that the resource folder doesn't get bloated with similar images. By the way, each time I try another render engine and come back to Centileo, I like it more. Thank you
for being free.

Im looking forward to any compatibility with sun/sky. Im not able to get a working environment setup without an HDRI. Is there any settings I can use for sun/sky or is this yet to be a feature?

Has anyone come up with a good material for fog? Trying to copy what I did in Fstorm but its not rendering correctly when the camera is inside the fog. Maybe I need to invert the polys of the fog box Im using.

Still have to add the orbiter. Just a tribute to space vehicles of the past.

That's great, I've had the same issue with the different scene but was successfully able to remedy it by re-importing objects into a new scene. I'm not sure what type of object or material would be causing it to crash. That being said, I'm really enjoying the speed and quality of this engine. Here's a bit of a scene I'm working on and it renders everything plus the Tyflow vegetation fast.

Hi Kirgman, have you had a chance to look at the scene I sent? Im curious if there was something in the scene that would drastically reduce the render time only at certain angles. Maybe the water? I also believe I forgot ot include the materials for the scene.

Thank you. Again, rendered from the top was 25-30 seconds. Render the boathouse from the side, I cut it off at 15 minutes. Im beginning to wonder if its an incompatible material. I sent a link through email.

In this particular scene, I have 7M polys. About 34 bitmaps no larger than 4K, most are 2K. I do have an older card, Geforce GTX 1070 that has about 8GB VRAM. 32GB onboard RAM, Texture cache is set to 3GB. Whats interesting is if I cancel the render early before seeing the first pixel, it will show the unfinished render in the VFB.

It might help a bit to have a more thorough manual for 3ds Max. I just used the Resource Collector to move all the maps to one location and the speed did increase a bit. I only have 2 iterations. I uploaded the render.

EDIT: Interesting development. If I render my cabin from the top, it takes 35 seconds instead of 10 minutes.

Can I send a log file to see whats crashing? Must be something in the scene. I can open another scene and render but that alone takes 7 minutes to see first pixel.

To be honest, it may be rendering slower after this latest update. I wonder if Im missing an important setting. Looking forward to adaptive sampling.
