Strange artifact on Geometry, Some kind of bug

Thanks! And looking forward to your next release!

Strange artifact on Geometry, Some kind of bug

Seems to be a problem when it´s lit by the environment map. If I turn it of and only use centileo lights the artifact goes away.

Attached an image showing the thing. It´s a continuous floor that curves up . I have tried both Meshsmooth and Turbosmooth bit its the same problem. as if I had different smoothing groups in the object. See image and a stripped down 2018-max-file.

CentiLeo for 3ds Max 0.541 available (nested glass objects and liquids, dirt shader, fixed bump mapping and other fixes)

Hi, I think the matte material/object properties in Vray is the most versatile. I mainly use object settings in Vray for matte planes I´m not that concerned about shadow catcher but this, for some reason, is always why I have to go back to cpu renderers like Vray.
I think that as soon as we can set some basic object properties in Centileo it wont be a big problem. The RaySwitch material seems nice!

When will we see an upgrade :)

Thanks and sorry for my late response.
I still think it would be a good Idea to be able to set the color of the shadow catcher by hand and not always relate to the background image.

Hi here is four renders that point out some issues with the shadowcatcher I think.

1. - first is the beauty render shadowcatcher is off. second is Beaty with shadowcatcher and reflections on. third is shadowcatcher on and reflections off and the last one is the alpha I get when I turn off reflections. The same result I got from earlier version when I turnd off global environment map totaly. (even here the alpha gets normal when I turn on the environment map or just ticks up the reflection just a little.)

2. - I´d like to get the green GI from the ground plane on to the teapot, like in the first image, even when Shadowcatcher is turned on. Is that possible in this build ( 0541 )

Other than that I have to say that your sss is the best!! Very predictable, straight forward, and fast. 8) I have tried them all...

Looking forward to the next alpha..

I think I had the earlier version... Sorry. No problem in 0.541.
Is there a way to animate the focus distance?

Thanks. Also the shadowcatcher only works when the background override is on, set to higher than 0. Otherwise I cant get an alpha channel.
Also it would be great if the secondary light of the matte object was optionaly reflected.

Have I missed something? I cant see how to rotate bitmaps in material editor.. Very annoying to have to either reedit the image or rotate the uvw mapping on the geometry.

Yea I know. I just wanted to say it...
Keep up the good work!

Centileo for Blender

Hey, just a heads up. we are making a transition from 3dsmax/Maya, over to Blender on smal to medium projects and and plan for Blender to be our main 3d-hub. I know I´m not alone to make this move or thinking about it as no one is really happy about the Autodesk way of doing things.
For starters- Blender as a hub for rendering is something I will use even on major projects.

I try to make you biased towards Blender here... ;)

Thanks for the new build! I haven´t had the time to try it out.
Just a thought, I think it would be a good thing to be able to increase the motion blur time to more than a frame. unrealistic but useful for fake time-slice etc.

MultiScatter is so welcome!

There is some bug going on when I try to use Max compound object: scatter. When I set the distribution object to instance and check "hide distribution object" the distribution object hides but also the original, so only the distributed object is rendered.
I know this is alpha but thought I should let you know..

I think that if someone on CPU can make deform MB on animated p-flow particles then we will find the ways to do it too.
Actually I´m not sure there is a renderer that can do it in max. Maybe on smaller scenes.

Thank you for this renderer, all though limited right now I like to use it and even planing a future project for it. ;)

I read in the plan that you will do something to the bump map. It is very sensitive right now and you start to see the actual geometry- polygons if you crank it up. Is this something you will work on?

Will there ever be a way to get deformation motion blur on animated p-flow particles.
I managed to get motion blur on the particle movement but not on the individual movements.

I know this is not doable in Octane or even i Vray on some due to huge memory consumption or something

edit: The particle moblur was very fast thou!
