Is caching necessary for dynamics to show in render? Mine don't.

I made a scene with a dynamic object attached to a motor so it spins.
It works in the viewport, but when I rendered the object doesn't spin at all.
Do I need to cache for it to render?

EDIT:
I cached the dynamics tags and it does spin now in render.
So all dynamics need to be cached to render properly?
Does this also apply to cloth?

Yes, dynamics for simulations and particle engines should be cached before rendering. This is mostly needed for time offsets and motion blur when we get the scene for certain time sample. This is adviced by particle engine developers as I discussed with them.
Sometimes this can work without caching but there are a lot of conditions to get correct rendering. So it's anyway better to develop the simulation at first and then cache it and the render.

Ok, I just remembered I have motion blur enabled in all my scenes now.

And of course I left for work earlier and forgot to cache my scene again after increasing the timeline and leaving it to render overnight.

not needed to enable it if the scene is static with no motion.

I have the motor spinning an alarm light.
but rendering 32 iterations is so fast now I just have it rendering again now.

one thing I wish maxon would fix is the stage camera.
When I have the active camera switch between two cameras during a scene there is one frame of total motion blur as the camera switches, making it an unusable frame.
it only happens with motion blur enabled, but it has been a bug for many years.
